Cleaning Your Rope

When and How?

Jute and other natural fibre ropes should not get wet or be washed frequently, as excessive moisture will weaken and warp the fibres. For wet or messy scenes involving water or bodily fluids, synthetic ropes are a better choice.

Jute and hemp both have natural antimicrobial properties and should not need to be sterilized if kept dry. However, occasional spot cleaning may be necessary if your rope becomes soiled.

Steps for Spot Cleaning

Dust Off Debris

Lightly brush off any surface dust or dirt

Dab with a Damp Cloth

Use a damp cloth with mild, natural soap to clean specific areas. Avoid soaking the rope.

Air Dry Properly

Always allow your rope to dry completely before storing it. Hang it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or excessive heat.

Recondition as Needed

After cleaning, reapply rope butter if the rope feels dry or stiff
